Class Details

This course will offer students the opportunity to read the short stories of Miguel de Cervantes: a collection of works collectively titled Las novelas ejemplares. Attention will be given to the structure and design of the tales, the socio-political and literary context that shaped them, and the often unsettling implications of Cervantes’ approach to themes such as insanity, woman’s honor, man’s relationship to Nature and animals, and the place of representation in art and life. Conducted in Spanish.
