We will focus on the following questions, among others: How is Latina/o identity expressed through the “popular” or the everyday? In what ways do categories of difference such as gender, sexuality, and ethno-racial identity inform our interpretations of Latina/o musical forms? How are we to understand cultural phenomenon such as the recent Latin music “boom”?
