Class Details

German 101-102 is for students with no previous study of German whose ultimate aim is to gain comprehensive fluency in the language. The course employs a communicative approach involving all four language skills: listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. We focus initially on practice in understanding the spoken language and then move rapidly to basic forms of dialogue and self-expression. In the second semester, reading and especially writing come increasingly into play.
