Class Details

This seminar will address 12 books that have significantly shaped the history of art. Ranging from the early twentieth century until the present, these books are being selected (in consultation with scores of art historians) for their imaginative power and lasting influence. The book itself, as a sustained argument, will be our focus as we address both the act of writing about visual art as well as the methodological and critical models they have offered the discipline of art history.
