Class Details

This course will deal with the complexities of the American intelligence community, its activities, and its recent controversies. An important purpose of the course is to demystify intelligence activity and place it in its proper perspective as an important and necessary aspect of American foreign policy. Another purpose of the course will be to familiarize students with the role that intelligence and surveillance plays in the decision-making process in American foreign and national security policy. We will also examine historical and current controversies over the role of intelligence and surveillance.
