This course provides an introduction to Modern Philosophy of the 17th and 18th Centuries, with a focus on metaphysics and epistemology. Topics: What can we know through our senses? Can we know anything through reason alone? What is the nature of the mind? What is the nature of bodies? Are bodies independent of minds? Do bodies interact with minds? Do bodies interact with other bodies? What are space and time? What can we know about God? Authors: Descartes, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, Leibniz, and Kant.
