Class Details

This course will cover a variety of easy techniques to make multiple images, including drypoint, linoleum plates, stenciling, collagraphs, solar plates, and monotyping. Students will be encouraged to hand-color or add to the prints, incorporating drawing, painting, photography, bookmaking and collage. With less emphasis on complicated techniques, the focus of the course will be more upon form and content, investigating how the multiple and serial nature of printmaking has an impact upon contemporary artmaking. There will be visits to museums (WCMA, the Clark Art Institute and MASS MoCA) and the Chapin Library, critiques, and slide presentations.
