Class Details
In this course, we will consider six plays by Shakespeare, along with responses–some cinematic, some theatrical–that they have provoked. Pairings will include: The Tempest and Forbidden Planet, Lear and Chekhov’s “Swan Song,” The Merchant of Venice and Lubitsch’s To Be or Not to Be, Hamlet and “The Skinhead Hamlet.”
