Class Details
Measurable dynamics, or ergodic theory, studies the probabilistic behavior of dynamical systems as they evolve through time. This course starts with an introduction to Lebesgue measure on the real line. Then it introduces basic ideas from measurable dynamics such as ergodicity, weak mixing, and mixing. There will be an emphasis on examples such as Bernoulli transformations, rotations, the binary odometer transformations, and rank-one constructions.
