Welding: Drawing in the Third Dimension

Class Details
In this class, students will be introduced to the welding process and will explore steel as a material for drawing three dimensionally in space. Steel, an industrial material, is amazing at defying gravity, and welding is a direct and quick way to fuse steel together. Through processes such as bending, cutting, and welding we will explore steel as an art material.

Requirements/Evaluation:
Must attend class and contact hours each week. There will be technical objectives that will need to be met each week and one complete piece of art work at the end of the class.

Art majors
Materials/Lab Fee:
$500. Lab and materials fees for all studio art classes are covered by the Book Grant for all Williams financial aid recipients.
