Class Details
A survey of 17th- and 18th-century European philosophy with a focus on metaphysical and epistemological themes. Thinkers will include Descartes, Margaret Cavendish, Anne Conway, Leibniz, Damaris Masham, Spinoza, Locke, Berkeley, Mary Shepherd, Hume, and Kant. This active and exciting historical span is a source of many of our central contemporary philosophical debates, and it continues to attract scholarly interest in its own right.
