Class Details
This course is for students who want to learn how to write a clear, well-argued, intelligible paper based on close, critical analysis of texts. The majority of the readings for this course will be creative nonfiction (including literary essays, science/nature writing and memoir), but you may also read some short stories and the occasional poem. Built into the course will be opportunities to revise and improve drafts of your work, to edit your peers’ work, and to learn how to incorporate secondary sources into your essays. This course will focus more directly on basic expository writing skills than the other 100-level classes.
